Karnataka Bengaluru: Covid-19 precaution dose rollout from today; over 21 lakh eligible in state

Covid-19 precaution dose for healthcare workers, frontline workers and persons aged above 60 with co-morbidities will be rolled out from Monday in Karnataka. Around 21 lakh people in the state are eligible, according to the Karnataka Health Department.

Karnataka on Sunday reported 12,000 new Covid-19 cases, out of which 9,020 were recorded in Bengaluru. The positivity rate in the State on Sunday was 6.33 per cent and the active cases as of Sunday evening were 49,602.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Congress Sunday launched a 10-day foot march amid Covid restrictions seeking the creation of the long-delayed Mekedatu reservoir.

Roads in several parts of Bangalore and Karnataka wore a deserted look due to the weekend curfew imposed by the Karnataka government in the state, due to the rising Covid-19 cases. The Bengaluru police took action and penalised people who were found venturing out of their homes without any valid reasons. On Saturday, the police seized 829 vehicles across Bengaluru, including 755 two wheelers, 25 three wheelers and 49 four wheelers.
