Pakistan has successfully conducted a training launch of its Shaheen-II surface-to-surface ballistic missile, as confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday. The launch was critical in evaluating the missile’s performance and validating several technical parameters designed to enhance accuracy and survivability.
Key Observations and Participation
Senior officers from the Strategic Plans Division, Army Strategic Forces Command, along with scientists and engineers from strategic organizations, were present to witness the launch. The Director General of the Strategic Plans Division praised the technical expertise, dedication, and commitment of the scientists who played a key role in this significant achievement.
Leadership’s Response
Pakistan’s top leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, and the three service chiefs, extended their congratulations to the scientists and engineers on this successful test.
Routine Test Launches
This training launch is part of Pakistan’s routine test launches to assess and maintain its missile arsenal’s readiness. Last month, the Pakistan Navy demonstrated its combat readiness by successfully firing FN-6 surface-to-air missiles (SAM) in Karachi. During the demonstration, the PN’s GBAD system effectively engaged airborne targets, showcasing their operational capabilities.
