Today, PM Modi begins a two-day visit to Gujarat, To announce projects worth Rs 21,000 crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a two-day visit to Gujarat today, where he will participate in several events, including the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremonies for projects worth more than Rs 21,000 crore.

PM Modi will open the renovated Shree Kalika Mata temple at Pavagadh Hill on June 18, followed by a visit to Virasat Van, according to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office.

On June 18, the Prime Minister will attend the Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyan in Vadodara, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 21,000 crore, which also happens to be PM Modi’s mother Heeraben Modi’s 100th birthday.

Among the railway projects are the 357-kilometer New Palanpur-Madar dedicated freight corridor, gauge conversion of the 166-kilometer Ahmedabad-Botad segment, and electrification of the 81-kilometer Palanpur-Mitha stretch. Railway-related development projects of over Rs 16,000 crore would be included in the development projects.

In addition, the Prime Minister will dedicate 1.38 lakh residences built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, comprising dwellings worth over Rs 1,800 crore in urban regions and over Rs 1,530 crore in rural areas.

According to the statement, “Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of Gujarat Central University in Kundhela village of Dabhoi taluka of Gujarat. Located at about 20 km from Vadodara city, the University will be constructed at a cost of around Rs 425 crores and will cater to higher education needs of over 2500 students”.

The PM will also contribute roughly Rs 120 crore to the ‘Poshan Sudha Yojana,’ which is now open to all tribal beneficiaries in the state, according to the PMO.
