Vietnam’s Coffee Exports Drop 14.3% in 2024, but Revenue Soars by 35.4%

Vietnam’s coffee exports for the January-November period of 2024 reached 1.2 million metric tons, marking a 14.3% decrease compared to the same period in 2023, according to data released by the General Statistics Office on December 6, 2024.

While the volume of coffee exports has dropped, the country’s coffee export revenue has surged by 35.4%, reaching $4.9 billion during the same period.

November Export Decline

In November 2024, Vietnam exported 60,000 tons of coffee, a significant 49.1% drop from the previous year. This decline is largely attributed to a tight supply of coffee, which has dampened trading activity in the country.

Supply Constraints Impacting Coffee Trade

The reduction in Vietnam’s coffee exports is mainly due to supply challenges affecting the country’s coffee sector, leading to weaker trading conditions. However, the increase in revenue suggests that coffee prices have risen, offsetting the lower export volumes.

Vietnam Coffee Export Outlook

Despite the decline in volume, Vietnam remains a key player in the global coffee market, with its coffee export sector continuing to contribute significantly to the nation’s economy.
